Effective date: June 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Tilt Talk ("the app") handles information. The app is published by Anton Zriashchev, an individual developer based in Mexico ("we," "us," or "our"). If you have questions, contact us at privacy@tilttalk.app.
The short version
Your conversations stay on your device. Speech recognition and translation run on your iPhone. The audio you speak, the text it is transcribed into, and the translations produced are never recorded to a server, never uploaded, and never leave your device. We cannot see, hear, or store your conversations.
We do collect a limited amount of anonymous, non-conversational usage and diagnostic data to keep the app working and to improve it. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never track you across other apps or websites.
Conversation content — processed only on your device
When you use Tilt Talk, your microphone audio is transcribed into text on your device, the text is translated on your device, and the result is shown on screen and optionally spoken aloud. This audio and text are held only in memory for as long as needed to show you the translation, and are then discarded. None of it is transmitted off the device or retained by us.
Microphone
The microphone is used only while you are actively having a conversation. Audio is processed on the device for speech recognition and is not recorded or stored.
Motion
Tilt Talk reads device motion (tilt) to decide which speaker the microphone should follow and which way to orient the text. Motion readings are used on the device in real time and never leave it.
Usage and diagnostic data we collect
To understand how the app is used and to find and fix problems, the app collects anonymous, aggregated usage analytics and crash and performance diagnostics through third-party providers. We use PostHog for product analytics (which features are used and where users encounter difficulty) and Sentry for crash, error, and performance reporting, both configured to host this data in the European Union. This may include: which features and screens are used and for how long, app launches and sessions, settings such as the languages you select (but not what you say), device model, operating-system version, app version, language and region settings, and crash and error reports with technical diagnostic information.
This data is pseudonymous. Because Tilt Talk has no account system, it is not tied to your name, email address, or a real-world identity. We use it only to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the app, and we may add or change analytics or product-measurement providers that serve the same purposes; if we do, this policy and its effective date will be updated.
IP address
When the app communicates over the internet (for example, to download models or send analytics or diagnostic events), providers receive your device's IP address as part of standard internet communication. We configure our analytics and diagnostics providers not to store your IP address, attach it to your events, or use it to infer your location or identify you.
Diagnostic log
The app keeps a local diagnostic log on your device to help troubleshoot problems. This log contains technical information only — for example device model, operating-system and app version, timestamps, event names, timing measurements, and counts. It does not contain your conversation audio, transcripts, or translations. The log stays on your device unless you choose to export and send it to us (for example, to report a bug). If you send it, you are sharing only the technical information it contains.
Network activity
The app connects to the internet for these purposes only:
• One-time download of the on-device AI models (the speech-recognition model and, on supported devices, the translation model) from Hugging Face, which hosts the model files published by NVIDIA and the open-source community. On devices that use Apple's translation engine, Apple translation language packs are downloaded from Apple.
• Communication with Apple's App Store and in-app-purchase (StoreKit) services to deliver and manage subscriptions and purchases.
• Sending the anonymous usage and diagnostic data described above to our analytics providers.
No conversation content is ever transmitted over any of these connections.
Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment-card details. Apple provides us with limited, non-identifying transaction and subscription-status information so we can grant access to paid features.
No tracking, no ads, no selling of data
We do not show advertising, do not sell or rent your personal data, and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes.
Children
Tilt Talk is a general-audience travel and translation tool. It is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the higher minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact privacy@tilttalk.app and we will address it.
International users and data transfers
The app is offered to users worldwide. We have chosen providers that host the limited usage and diagnostic data described above in the European Union. Where data is nonetheless transmitted across borders, our providers rely on recognized transfer mechanisms.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. Because the app collects only pseudonymous, non-account data, we may not always be able to link a request to a specific device, but we will do our best to honor valid requests. Contact privacy@tilttalk.app to make a request.
• If you are in Mexico, you have the ARCO rights under the Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP): access, rectification, cancellation, and opposition with respect to your personal data, and the right to revoke any consent you have given.
• If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR (and UK GDPR), including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection to processing. Our legal basis for processing the limited analytics and diagnostic data is our legitimate interest in operating and improving the app, and your consent where consent is required. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
• If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Features that are not yet part of the app
Tilt Talk does not currently offer user accounts, cloud sync, saved conversation history, or photo and document translation. If we introduce optional features like these in a future version, we will update this policy and its effective date before the feature begins collecting or processing additional data. For example: if we offer Sign in with Apple, you will be able to use Apple's private email-relay feature so that we never see your real email address; if we offer iCloud sync, your data would be stored in your own Apple iCloud account under Apple's terms; and if we offer saved history, transcripts would be stored locally on your device under your control.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app.
